Church as Ecclesia – God’s People Called Out

September 1, 2019

Summary

This Sunday we read scriptures about the early church and explore the meaning of church for us today. Several shared the following:

  • God’s people called out by God
  • Like a branch with imperfect leaves that still provides shade and comfort and rest
  • Like a water that brings life, refreshing
  • Like a bouquet of flowers; lots of imperfection but when combined together is beautiful
  • Committed to each other in the church
  • A place to share our gifts from God; living with patience and understanding as we share our gifts
  • Faithfulness; practicing mercy, kindness and justice
  • Like a family, committed to each other, joyful, not always good but when we do it right it is potent
  • A combining of individuality and community; give and receive

“I am the church, you are the church, we are the church together”
